More African & Liberian Art on Auction



More African and Liberian Art is up for sale during the Spring Auction season in New York this month. On May 12th, the Bonham house will hold an auction of Fine African, Oceanic, and Pre-Columbian Art.

The African collection is wide-ranging with a large stock of wooden masks and figures from Mali (including excellent Bamana and Dogon items) and Burkina Faso (Mossi, Lobi, Bobo, Mumuye, Igbo, Yoruba and others from Nigeria, Ghana (Ashanti and Akan) and DR Congo. From Cote D'Ivoire, Baule and Senufo are included with Dan and Gola pieces from the Liberian frontier area, in addition to a few choice Dan and Grebo works from Liberia itself, such as the Dan animal figure, at top.
