Ma Ellen, Not on Twitter

In the aftermath of the Presidential Run-0ff, someone from Harvard suggested that we all follow President Sirleaf on Twitter. Which might be a good idea, if anyone ever sent out messages from the account. But no one ever has.

This is perhaps interesting, given how prominent a role Twitter now plays in American politics, and media in general, and that even though there was a Presidential Debate at Monrovia City Hall, in which members of the Diaspora were able to submit questions via YouTube, and that many Liberians are either on Twitter, or, in far greater numbers, on Facebook, President Sirleaf and the UP camp saw no need to employ microblogging at any point during her reelection. She also doesn't exactly have a lot of followers, but I imagine she would if she ever sent something out.

The End

...of election season. The world's eyes look away from Liberia, and on to Penn State, apparently.
